I love the idea of Capitalism, yet, in a sort of paradoxical way, I hate some of its values. I fully appreciate the fact that you can make a business out of an idea, without needing approval from an authoritarian state, but I despise the idea of materialism and the need for more and more useless stuff. I am a victim of materialism myself, and I would like to change that. There's some hope yet, I want to believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I only need to prepare a route for me to escape from the tunnel in the fastest, and safest, way possible.
I don't want to become a minimalist, though, as minimalist people often spend more than what they should for certain products (I mean, look at Steve Jobs and his company, Apple). So, instead of minimalism, I will try to just reduce the amount of things I have. Old books, useless plastic stuff and unused board games, I'll try to get them off of me.
I'll start with my smartphone, as digital things tend to be easier to get rid of, I believe. No more social media! I'll reduce my tab count on Firefox on my phone! No more Webtoon or AO3! From now on, EPUB and physical books shall entertain me! No more brainrot or useless videos (although that's another letter I shall write at one point)! Only good entertainment, like movies or TV shows (after all, I have lots of DVDs to watch yet)!
However, after all this, I must be a bit "real" with myself: Maybe I'll never reach full peace of mind with my life, as nobody's perfect except God itself, but I can be a bit more organized if I have fewer things to worry about.
