Lackadaisy, an honest review

The good, the bad, and the reason why I abandon it

Over the last few months, Lackadaisy has been a great influence for me. Not because of the art (I dislike drawing, the best thing I have ever drawn is a potato, and that ''thing'' looked like Australia), but rather because of the feeling that I found my new favorite character, Rocky Rickaby.

I didn't discover the short film because of my amazement at cats, but rather because of YouTube's recomendations page. At first I thought ''woah, another cringey animation for sure'', but as I kept watching the video for the first time, let's just say that my desire for buying a suit and tie grew with each minute that passed in this 27 minute long masterpiece.

The webcomic is also great. The combination of silly cats with one of America's most famous (and scariest) eras makes Lackadaisy a series of drawings with the best plot, regardless of the way you enjoy it.

Now, let me talk about the community. Oh, the community.

Don't get me wrong, some people in the community are great, both in fan art and in cosplay. It's just those people that, in one way or another, affect the community as a whole.

Now, what do I mean by this? Never enter a fanbase thinking that it will always be roses and tulips (not only the Lackadaisy fandom, I'm sure any kind of community can be, in one way or another, dangerous), there will be people that will make you see a set of characters in a very different way, whether that's good or a bad way.

Before I finish, I would like to quote Steve Jobs in an interview where he was talking about the iPhone 4 leaks, because I think that, whenever any kind of drama happens inside any community, it goes something like this: ""(...) and so this is a story that's amazing, it's got theft, it's got buying stolen property, it's got extortion, I'm sure there's sex in there somewhere... Somebody should make a movie out of this""

To sum up, if you are looking for a great way to justify your fear of dogs, your way of dressing, or your love for Whiskey, then Lakadaisy is your way to go. As for me, well, I am retiring from the amazing fan base that is Lackadaisy, because of my insecurities and my "Lackatime" (haha, get it? "Lacka-daisy", "Lacka-time", "Lack-of-time". haha). Nontheless, Tracy J. Butler, thank you for giving my life a reason to dress fancy.
